Tremella aurantia is a species of jelly fungus. It is found on dead timber from broadleaf trees, particularly stumps and fallen branches of oak and beech. It is a parasitic species and does not feed on the dead timber itself but instead consumes a bracket fungus found on the wood (Stereum hirsutum) known in english as Hairy Curtain Crust or False Turkey Tail.
Tremella aurantia is similar to Witch's Butter (Tremella mesenterica), but has stalked rather than sessile basidia and it parasitizes the mycelium of Stereum hirsutum instead of Peniophora.
